What to expect in a yoga session.

To me, yoga isn't about stretching. And it isn't about learning to do really hard poses, or touching your feet to the back of your head. To me yoga is about a strong, healthy body and mind.

Each person is different. Each private yoga session is different. What may work for one person will not work for another. Different needs, different yoga. Some will need to calm and relax, others to "workout". Some wish to address pain or injury, others wish to create a strong healthy physique. Some will want to learn to meditate, increasing their mental focus, others simply want to make use of the physical benefits of yoga. Whatever your needs are, I will help you to achieve a strong, healthy body and mind.

A 90 minute yoga session may include:
  • Basic evaluation of your goals and abilities.
  • As much or as little asana (physical practice) as you request, maybe your whole session.
  • Pranayama (breathing techniques) or meditation.
  • Other yoga techniques to help you reach your goals.
  • A written plan for long term yoga practice.

What you will need for a yoga session:

  • A quiet space in your home at least 8 feet square. (arrangements can be made for other locations.)
  • 90 minutes of free time. No phones, TVs, computers on, or other distractions.
  • Comfortable, lightweight clothing with not too much loose material.
  • Do not eat for two hours before your session.

Personal yoga instruction is very beneficial to everyone. You will look, feel, and be better for it.
